By Esther, Operations Director
¡Hola! I'm Esther, the Operations Director here at Creative Bytes. My job is keeping things running smoothly so nothing falls through the cracks. And lately, a lot of business owners are asking me the same thing about AI.
Okay, real talk. It's 9 p.m. A customer messages you asking if you're open Saturday. You're at dinner with your familia. Do you answer? Or does that customer wait until morning?
That's where AI can help.
The quick answer: Yes, AI can talk to your customers. AI assistants can answer common questions, take booking requests and route messages any time of day, then hand off to a real person when it matters. The goal isn't to replace your warmth. It's to make sure nobody waits too long to hear back.
Here's what the numbers say
- 66% of US small businesses now use AI, up from 55%. And 70% of those users say it increased revenue. (Thryv 2026 via WICPA)
- 70% also say they need more training to use it well. (same Thryv survey)
- Gartner predicts 40% of enterprise apps will have task-specific AI agents by the end of 2026, up from less than 5% in 2025. (UC Today)
Translation? AI is already here, and most owners just want help setting it up the right way.
What can AI actually handle?
- Common questions. Hours, location, services, parking, what to bring.
- After-hours messages. A friendly reply now instead of silence until morning.
- Booking requests. Collecting the details so you can confirm quickly.
- Sorting and routing. Sending urgent or complex messages straight to the right person.
- Follow-ups. Gentle reminders and thank-you messages so customers feel cared for.
Where should a human step in?
Anything sensitive, emotional or complicated. A complaint, a big decision, a long-time customer who just wants to hear your voice. Customer Service Week was earlier this month (Hospitality Net), and it's a good reminder: great service is still about people. AI just helps you be there more often.
Try this today (it takes 10 minutes): Scroll through your last 20 customer messages. Write down every question that came up more than once. That list is the starting point for your AI assistant. ¡Así de fácil! (It's that easy!)
Quick questions we hear a lot
Will my customers know it's AI? They should. Being upfront builds trust, and most people are happy to get a fast, helpful answer.
Can it answer in Spanish too? ¡Claro que sí! AI assistants can be set up to help customers in more than one language.
